Visit the AIS campus, Bruce Ridge Nature Park and surrounds during a 45 minute virtual rogaine.
Start is the statue of the two soccer players in the middle of the buildings on the AIS. Park in the public carpark and head north along Leverier Street to the flagpoles of the main entrance. The soccer players are on the main walkway adjacent to the Basketball Centre behind the Clearinghouse for Sport. Google maps link
Print out a copy of the map. The virtual rogaine is on the MapRun App and is called "AIS Mogaine Nov 2024"
This year’s Night/Day will take place in the newly-reopened Orroral Valley. This beautiful slice of Namadgi National Park makes for varied and engaging navigation with steep hills overlooking the open country of the valley below. The course is designed to give participants the opportunity to play to their strengths and preferences in route-planning.
The bush is in great condition, so it will make for a great day or night (or both) of rogaining! The Hash House will be at the Orroral Valley Tracking station, a comfortable 1-hour drive south from Canberra on sealed roads.
As always, there will be two instances of the event using the same course:
• Night 5 hour – Saturday 2 September 5:00pm - 10:00pm
• Day 6 hour – Sunday 3 September 9:00am - 3:00pm
Participants can choose to compete in either or both events! Keep an eye out for entries to open soon!
24 hour / 8 hour Yarrangobilly Village 12 pm Saturday 28 April, 8 hr and 24 hr events |
Held in the fascinating area around Yarrangobilly Village in the Northern Koskiuszko NP, about 3 hours from Canberra. There is wonderful park-like country near the hash house, limestone sinkholes and bluffs, revegetated pine plantation and alpine bushland. Some historical sites including Cotterill's Cottage at the HH and a number of old homestead sites including Jounama homestead ruins.
INTER-VARSITY CHAMPS SELECTION TRIAL
This event will also be a selection event for a team to represent an ACT University at the Inter-Varsity Champs in Queensland in August. The selected team will be offered subsidised travel courtesy of the Nigel Aylott Memorial Sports Foundation. Competitors must be from the same university. Nominate yourselves on the entry form.
Check out the Strava Fly-by of where all the teams went!

The Hash House is at the Yankee Hat Walking Track car park. The terrain varies from open grassland to wooded areas on the hills. The area is excellent for beginners and families, who can plan a route using the tracks and grassland, but there is also plenty for the more ambitious teams looking to take out their categories. Travel is generally easy, except for some of the wooded hills where the vegetation can get thicker. There are a lot of kangaroos on the course, as well as other wildlife. The map will be an A3 teslin (waterproof) pre marked map including magnetic north lines and 1:25000 scale with 10m contours.
All competitors please ensure your shoes are clean and free of grass seeds and soil.
No camping at the Hash House site is allowed. If you would like to camp in the area we'd suggest either the Orroral or Mount Clear campgrounds which are approximately 20km from the Hash House site.

Bungonia 6 hour 12 hour |
The last ACTRA rogaine for 2019 will be held in the Bungonia plateau of Morton National Park and some adjoining private property.
The area is open and gently undulating native forest (my favourite). Also friendly local farmers have allowed access onto their very easy going paddocks and there are some firetrails. Check out the photos on smugmug. Barkley has been out there taking selfies at some of the control locations and has given his tick of approval - “Just like home” he said. It takes about 1.5 hours to drive from Canberra.

The event centre was at Wild Cattle Flat south-east of Captains Flat and about an hours drive from Canberra. The course encompassed private property, Tallaganda National Park and State Forest. The terrain varied from easy grassy flats to open eucalypt forest. Higher sections of the course were slower travel. Altitude varied from 900m to 1300m. The specially prepared map was premarked 1:25,000 with 10m contour intervals.
Competitors were greeted by the cattle who call wild cattle flat home on Sunday, but fortunately they were friendly. Jon Glanville set a super course on The Hollow property and the Tallaganda National Park. It provided plenty of challenge for young families through to the top team who didn't quite get around the course on a sunny, calm and hot March day. Congratulations to Tom Brazier, Gill Fowler and Jack Brand who won overall. Special mention to Susie Sprague and Luca Saunders who won the family category by 8 minutes from Leanne, Scott, Sandy and Ross Wilkinson - and they were 16th and 17th teams overall. The womens open category was a close race too with everyone on the same score and only 3 minutes between them. It was won by Elizabeth Woodgate and Kerrie Murphy. Many thanks to Paddy Pallin for sponsoring and providing great spot prizes.
There are photos in the gallery from the day. Check them out to see if your friends were captured.
