Go for Gold ACT 8hr + 24hr Champs
From Saturday 15 April 2023
To Sunday 16 April 2023

This year's Go for Gold CT Championship 24hr event and associated 8 hr event will be held in northern Kosciuszko National Park around the Three Mile Dam area around Kiandra and Mt Selwyn ski field.

The course has been set by Lee Rice and Craig Cowan. Much of the area was burnt in the 2019-20 fires so is quite open in many places, as well as naturally having grassy open areas, such as around Kiandra. There is also a lot of interesting remains from the gold mining era at Kiandra across the course. We will provide some suggestions for novice loops that use the well-defined features, and more challenging loops for those looking for a physical and navigational challenge.

The starts for the 8 hr and 24 hr events will be midday (12 pm) on Saturday 15 April. The 8 hr event will finish in the dark at 8pm and the 24 hr will finish at midday Sunday.

Entries cost $98 full and $78 concession. Under 14 free. No solo entries for this event - teams of 2 to 5 people. Entries are open to 11:59 pm Sunday 9 April without late fees. Entries receieved between then and complete close at 11:59 pm on Wednesday 12 April incur a late fee of $10 per person.

Camping is available at the Hash House site at the Three Mile Dam campground. The campground is split into two parts on an isthmus on the dam and near the dam wall on the northern side. The final instructions will provide more detail to allow you to choose the best spot for your needs.

Catering for the event is being provided by Hartley Lifecare. For 8hr event competitors, your event entry fee covers camping on Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning. We do ask that you let us know, via a tick box on the entry form, if you would like breakfast on Sunday morning so that Hartley can bring the right amount of food to prevent wastage or under catering.

Special notes: The course is not particularly accessible for vehicles as we are not allowed behind locked gates. There will be no water drops but there is lots of clean natural water on the course and we will provide you with puritabs. While mobile (Telstra) phone coverage is ok on the course, please also bring your own personal locator beacon if you own one for emergency use. We will be up high on the course and being mid-April it is likely to be cold (anyone remember last year's champs?). Please bring lots of warm clothes.

See the event gallery for more teaser photos, including photos of the lovely Three Mile Campground.
