Over 230 rogainers took advantage of the sunny conditions to explore the Yankee Hat area in the ACT’s Namadgi National Park. Brad Vallette, Fergus McLeod, Emily Rowbotham and Anthony Newman set a great course which highlighted the best bits of the area. The course they set proved to be the perfect size, with only the overall winners Julie Quinn, David Baldwin and Gill Fowler managing to clear it, with seven minutes to spare and taking out the mixed open category. Second overall was Anthony Ricci and Oliver Lilford, who won the mens open category, and Kate Thomas, Rebecca Rogers and Ainsley Pahljina won the womens open category. The family category was won by Lisa Cutfield, Nick Lhuede and Henry Lhuede.

The variety of the terrain and features, including grasslands, wooded hills, boulders of all shapes and sizes, huts and fireroads provided route options for all teams, from the youngest competitor in a family team at just a few months old, through to the experienced, ultraveteran teams. Rogainers returned to the hashhouse to enjoy the delicious food provided by Hartley Lifecare and to share stories of their routes, sights and wildlife experienced during the event. The presentation was followed by a random draw where some lucky participants won prizes that were provided by Paddy Pallin.

ACTRA would like to thank the event setters and vetters, as well as administration helpers Jean Douglass, Ron Simpson and Dane Roberts, first aider Monika Binder, pre-event administrator Claire Edwards, ACT Parks and Wildlife for permission to use the area, and of course the event sponsor Paddy Pallin for its continued support of this annual event.

Results can be found here and also check out Strava Fly-by to see where some teams went.
