2016 Metrogaine - Gungahlin - then and now. Saturday 9 July Print E-mail

2016 marks the 25th anniversary of the official launch of Gungahlin.  Much has changed since 1991, with development currently proceeding on the 13th and 14th suburbs (Moncrieff and Throsby).  Despite the pace of development,  each suburb proclaims its own distinctive urban and architectural style, and relics of the pastoral past abound.  From grasslands to woodlands, wetlands to hilltop reserves, stone hut ruins to golf course mansions, historic villages to vibrant suburban centres, Gungahlin offers a rich and diverse tapestry of the past and the present.
Come and discover the hidden treasures of Canberra's northernmost town in the 2016 Metrogaine.  Get lost in the street mazes of Ngunnawal and Amaroo, admire the views from Harcourt Hill and Percival Hill, lose valuable course time in the state-of-the-art playgrounds in Casey and Franklin (it is school holidays after all), ponder awhile about the hardships of 19th century life on 'Gungaderra' or 'Horse Park', or just go for points and venture into the sweeping grasslands of unimpeded travel.  It's all waiting for you in the 2016 Metrogaine, SATURDAY 9 July.
Entries are now open to teams of 2-5 people, and for this event, to solo entrants as well.
