2012 Metrogaine

A lovely sunny winters day greeted the participants of the 2012 Metrogaine, held in the southern suburbs of Canberra. From the vantage point of our luxurious hash house, the Tuggeranong Valley Cricket Clubhouse, we had magnificent views of the Brindabellas - with glimpses of snow!

Congratulations to the overall winner, Geoff Stacey, and runners up Seb Dunne and Danielle Winslow. It was also great to see so many families out.

Thanks to Glenn for setting a fun course, and to Doug and all the volunteers who made it happen. The usual feast put on by Hartley Lifecare at the end of the event, including wonderful homemade desserts, was also much appreciated!

Results and photos are now available.

2012 Winter rogaine

trigThe 2012 winter 4 hour rogaine was held in chilly conditions which did nothing to cool the enthusiasm of a great turnout with many families.

Results and photos are now online.

Winners were Seb Dunne and Dave Meyer who visited all the controls with nearly half an hour to spare! Julie Quinn, Gill Fowler and David Baldwin also got a full house. Claire Edwards and Catherine Horan won the women's category.

Thanks to all the helpers who made the event happen - setter Colleen Mock, vetter Glenn Bridgart, administration by Colin Mock, coordinator Susie Sprague and helpers Jack Palmer, David Moore (first aid), Ann Pacey and Parissa Poulis. Thanks also to Hartley Lifecare for catering and to landholders for permission to use the area.

Australian Rogaining Championships 2012

IMGP0320.jpgCongratulations to Sarah Buckerfield and Ben Greenwood who won the mixed open and Australian University Championships titles for 2012.

The ACT, and the Australian National University, took out the top three places in the Australian University Rogaining Champs with Sarah and Ben in first, Phillip Gatt and Thomas Brazier in second, and Galen Correy and Oliver Lee in third.  Well done.

The event was well run by the South Australians and they had certainly chosen a beautiful spot to show off the best rogaining country in the Flinders Ranges.

See full results including team splits and routes.
