Autumn rogaines

The Autumn 6 hr, 5hr, and 12hr rogaines were held at the beautiful Tarlo River National Park. The course was superb. Dane Roberts, Kieran Macdonell, Claire Lonergan and Craig Cowan set a course that took in the highlights including stretches of beautiful river, views from the hills and some amazing conglomerate rocks. The six hour event was comprehensively taken out by Rob Walter and Matt Crane on a score of 1970, the five hour event was won by our supervets Kathy Saw and Anne Sawkins with 320 points, and the 12 hr was won by David Baldwin and Julie Quinn on a score of 2560. See the event page for the full results, navlight splits, and hopefully a story! A few photos are in the gallery but please email David if you have others you would like to put up. Many thanks to all our helpers for the event: the setters above, Aaron Coles, Lucy McGarva, Ian Dias, Ari Piiroinen for vetting; Glenn Bridgart, Jean Douglass, Ron Simpson, Kath Bell, Danielle Winslow (first aid), Lyndall Adams, Claire Edwards for general help.

Spring 6/12hr

The Spring 6hr and 12hr rogaines held up to their promise of beautiful coastal spring weather.  Congratulations to the amazing team of Rob Walter and Matt Crane who, with a score of 1610, took out the 6hr event (and would have also won the 12 hr if they had entered!).  Congratulations to Craig Mottershead and Jasmine Elson who, with a score of 1580, won the 12 hr event.  For all the results see the results page, and check out the photos too.  We had three family teams in the 12 hr, including Kelly and Caitlin Young who won the womens open, and Peter, Tristan and Patrick Miller who were third in the mens open. We also had six family teams in the six hour event.

We found after the event that we had a transcribing error on the map with control #57 so if you went to #57 (and your splits indicate you were in the area looking for it) please email David and we will credit you with the 50 points.  The control was marked on a parallel spur so you would not have found it!  We are very sorry for the mistake.

Night/Day rogaine

The Night and Day rogaines were held on the 29 and 30 September at Terramungla on the northern shores of Lake George.  Congratulations to Graham Atkins and Steve Hewitson who won the night event overall and to Iain Roberts, Andrew Roberts and Josh Cockerill who wone the day event overall.  See the results page for the rest of the results.  Many thanks to the setters and vetters Sean O'Brien, Steve Hanley, Mike Harrap and Mark Harrap.  Thank you too to the Terrill Family and Claire Edwards for helping at the event.

Shaun Archer has posted a story that includes the following excerpt that nicely describes the day event:  The course was great! Interesting and varied terrain and some good navigation challenges. The controls were well placed and showcased the region, a compliment to the course setters. The terrain had plenty of eucalypts and minimal brush, with surprisingly little vegetation that wanted to pull me apart.
