2011 Paddy Pallin rogaine report Print E-mail

sprint to #34The 2011 Paddy Pallin rogaine was held in ideal autumn weather on 6 March, with blue skies and temperatures in the high teens.

The event was held in and around Rob Roy Nature Reserve, between Tharwa and Tuggeranong. The hilly course rewarded rogainers with frequent controls and beautiful views: the hash house site provided superb views up the western flank of Rob Roy and towards Mt Tennant.

ACT Paddy Pallin 6 hour rogaine Print E-mail

ACT PP6 2011The 2011 Paddy Pallin 6 hour event will be held between 10am and 4pm on Sunday 6 March, and will be based around the Rob Roy nature reserve. The Hash House is just 5 minutes drive south of Tuggeranong (at the southern end of Canberra).  The area is an interesting mix of open grasslands, native forest and some grazing country, with a few fire-trails. Elevation ranges from about 600m to over 1000m.  Paddy Pallin events are ideal for those wanting to try rogaining for the first time, while providing competitive challenges for the experienced.  Entry fee includes event maps and a post-event feast of country cooking to be provided by Hartley Life Care.

ACT Street Orienteering - Monday evenings, 31 Jan - 21 Mar 2011 Print E-mail

ACT Orienteering and ACT Health present Summer Street Orienteering. Street Orienteering will commence in Canberra next Monday 31st January at Curtin South Oval – but what is it? Street orienteering is a ‘shorter, faster, simpler version’ version of traditional orienteering.

It’s fast – courses are completed within 60 minutes, it’s easy – like reading a street directory (compasses are not required), it’s fun – you run or walk with friends in a group or on your own, it offers an interesting way to keep fit in a social environment.
