Twilight Wrap-Up
Over 220 competitors enjoyed the 2015 Twilight event in the Ainslie - Majura Nature Park, held on Saturday 7 February. It was a lovely warm summer evening, complete with gorgeous sunset. Glenn Bridgart set a great course taking in spots that people in their regular walks and rides would never go. The top teams were set the challenge of collecting all the controls faster than any other teams while the majority of people found plenty to keep them occupied until the finish right on dark. It was fantastic to see the range of competitors we had from babies in backpacks, juniors and uni students, through to ultravets. Congratulations to Lizzie Ingham and Lachlan Dow for winning overall (seen here in full flight). For the other winners and to see how you went look at the results page. There are lots of photos on the ACTRA gallery. A huge thank-you to the volunteers who ran the event smoothly and also catered for many hungry rogainers.
2015 Paddy Pallin Event
Entries are now open for the ACT Paddy Pallin 6 hour events on 28 February / 1 March. The event will be held in some beautiful private land in the Tinderry Range about 45 minutes south of Canberra with a mix of open rolling paddocks and some hilly bush country to provide something for everyone. Check out the pre-event photos here. $30 full entry / $25 concession / under 14 years free.
On Sunday 1 March the general entry event is open for all entries, while on Saturday 28 February there will be a Special Edition Inward Bound event for ANU students as part of their preparation for the Inward Bound sporting competition, a highlight of the annual ANU Interhall sporting calendar. Entries for the Special Edition event will be through each residence's IB coordinator.

Australian Champs in New South Wales in October
The New South Wales Rogaining Association is hosting the Australian Champs this year on 10-11 October. The event will be within reasonable driving distance of Canberra and we are assured the area is going to be superb. NSWRA has been keeping it reserved for some time. You don’t have to be a “champion” rogainer to go but someone who appreciates a well-set course in a great location. Put it in your diary now and plan a few shorter rogaines over the winter to get you ready.
New gear storage
ACTRA has purchased a shipping container to be our gear store for the next couple of years. Here is a picture of the new installation. The committee is now in the process of fitting it out and transferring our gear there from our various garages. A big thank you to Jean Douglass, Ron Simpson, and Doug Collier for getting this far.
Notice from Colleen Mock
As a long-time rogainer, both as a participant and helper-outer (not to mention winner of the trailer slogan contest!), I walk for fun and fitness, but in developing countries women walk long distances daily just for basic necessities. So when I saw Care Australia’s ‘Walk in her Shoes’ challenge I saw it as an opportunity to make my walking benefit others as well as me.
How it works is participants undertake to walk 25, 50 or 100 km during the week 16-22 March, and get sponsors to donate to the cause. Walkers complete the distance in their own time and over a route of their own choosing – yes, it’s an honour system, but a very worthwhile cause. See more about ‘Walk in her Shoes’ at http://www.walkinhershoes.org.au/
I have signed up for the 50 km challenge and plan to do a 3-day circuit walk through Tuggeranong and South Canberra. If you would like to support the cause please donate through my fund-raising page at: http://www.carewihs.org.au/ColleensWalkinhershoes
If you wish to make a cash donation or remain anonymous on the fund-raising page, that is easily accommodated by contacting me as below.
Yours in rogaining
