Remember, you don’t have to be a super-duper rogainer to enter – everyone is welcome.
Make sure you order the special Championships tee-shirt!
The Ridgy Didge Tee-shirt orders close on 14 April, and there's a 20% discount deal on other Mont gear ordered at the same time. Mont Adventure Equipment is kindly supporting the event. Enter now to get the discount code you need!
Bus-it for safety
The safe way to get to and from a 24-hour event is by bus. All details are available on our website (hotlink). There are event buses leaving Canberra Friday night and Saturday morning, and departing the Hash House on Sunday 2pm. Book the bus by 21 April.
Sydney friends: note that there is a bus leaving from Central Station at 2pm on the Friday afternoon.
The 2017 Intervarsity Rogaining Championships will be held in conjunction with the Australian Rogaining Championships. We encourage all eligible teams to enter. Teams must comprise 2-5 members, who are all enrolled at the same tertiary institution. That tertiary institution must be recognised by Australian University Sports (which also covers TAFE institutes). Students can be full-time or part-time. Identify your team as an intervarsity team when you enter through the 2017 Australian Rogaining Championships website.
One ACT intervarsity team will receive sponsorship from the Nigel Aylott Memorial Sporting Foundation to attend the event. The ACTRA committee will make a selection on Tuesday 28 March so please email David with your nomination by lunchtime this Tuesday. Tell us who is in your team and how well you have done in recent rogaines. In past years, the committee has had trouble deciding between lots of good teams, and has kicked in additional ACTRA sponsorships. So please throw your hat in the ring.

The Australian championships rogaine is for everyone! I’ve had a few people ask me about whether they can enter the champs or whether it is just for elite rogainers. We’re not selective in our sport and want everyone to come along for the event. With the extra effort that goes into a champs – an additional vet on the checkpoints in the bush, a big marquee for planning in at the Hash House, top quality map etc – we want as many people as possible to enjoy the event. In addition, our volunteers want people to come and sit around the campfire on Saturday night and fill them in on stories from the course while they wait out the 23 ¾ hrs, while the competitive rogainers smash themselves on the course. I’m excited about competing in the event because I know the area is superb for rogaining and that setters Jean Douglass and Ron Simpson set fantastic courses. See you there. Julie
In other news…
· Prepare for the Oz champs with the NSWRA 3 hour minigaine on 9 April near Cronulla.
· If you’re thinking about extra navigation training, mark 17 June in your diary if you live Sydney way, or 24-25 June if you live in Canberra. These are the dates for our navigation workshops. The NSWRA event on 17 June is currently tentative so keep an eye on the NSWRA website – it may be held on the afternoon prior to the NSWRA Paddy Pallin 6 hour rogaine.
