Paddy Pallin event provides great rogaining terrain

12593696_959394134113794_395863496707098470_o.jpgThe eastern side of the Tallaganda Range provides magnificent rogaining country. This year at Kindervale competitors traversed rolling grazing country and pine plantations, and stretched hamstrings leaping numerous creek crossing.

Martin Dent and Rob Walter cleared the course in 5 hours 35 minutes, ahead of mixed open winners Clare Lonergan and Kieran Macdonell. Judi Barton and Danealle Gilfillan took home the women's open trophy.

Many thanks to all our volunteers who made the course happen, property owners, Paddy Pallin and the Jerangle caterers for fine munch.

2016 kicks off with a great twilight event

IMGP1513.jpgWe got the year off to a great start last Saturday with our twilight event. A strong and deep list of teams participated, with Martin Dent and rogaining novice Mark Bourne taking out the honours. Six teams cleared the course, with Martin and Mark first home in 2 hours 20 minutes. Full results are here.

Many thanks to Dane Roberts, Tom Banks and all the other volunteers who made this event happen. Our thanks also to the Kama Scouts for their catering and the use of the hall as hash house. And thank you, too, for participating.

If you have any photos of the event, we would love to post them on our smugmug page. If you can provide photos, please contact Jonathan.

Our eyes now turn to the Paddy Pallin event on 20 March. More information coming soon on that.

Spring in Bond00

Spring was the weather for rogainers in the Bondo State Forest with a thunderstorm in the middle of the 6 hr event. Fortunately, the sun had come out again by 5 pm so the 12 hr teams had a dry evening. A great course was set by Laure, Pierre-Dominique, Kieran, Clare, Aaron, Dane, Jean and Ron taking in the wonderful eucalypt forest complete with large trees, wombat holes, lyrebird mounds and flowing creeks. Congratulations to 6 hr winners Tess Noble and Jackson Bursill and 12 hr winners David Baldwin and Julie Quinn.  Category winners and navlight routes are on the event page.

Control collectors are needed. Please contact Dane if you can help.
