Altitude ranges from sea level to around 300m. There are numerous walking trails in the National Park for less experienced rogainers, while the Nature Reserve has very few tracks and will present some navigational challenges for those teams aiming to complete most of the course.

The event is based at the beautiful Hobart Beach campground (hot showers!) on the shores of Lake Wallagoot - entry fee includes camping on Saturday night for all teams in both the 8 and 24 hour events and also full catering from 5pm Saturday through to Sunday lunch. For that reason the entry fee is the same for both events. 8 hour competitors are strongly encouraged for safety reasons to camp on Saturday night and enjoy breakfast before driving home. All competitors are welcome to camp Sunday night as well - pay at the event.
Driving: Those driving to the event will need to pay Park entry - $7/day ($14 minimum - pay at the entrance) or buy an annual pass. Driving time is around 3.5 hours from Canberra, 6 hours from Sydney and 8 hours from Melbourne.
Flying: REX flies into Merimbula (approx 15 mins drive from HH - pickups can be arranged) - flights from Sydney or Melbourne - see http://rex.com.au
