ACTRA is seeking to appoint a Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO). This is a requirement of the ACT Government for the annual financial assistance it gives ACTRA and other sporting organisations. ACTRA uses this grant to subsidise bus transport to the ACT champs, amongst other things.
The MPIO is the first point of call in an organisation for any queries, complaints or concerns around harassment, discrimination and child abuse in sport. MPIOs provide confidential information, moral support and options to help resolve the issue (but do not investigate or resolve conflicts). Given the nature of rogaining, issues of this nature are extremely rare. Serving as the MPIO will be regarded as fully satisfying the Committee's expectation that each active member will volunteer for one significant task over a two year period. The MPIO will need to attend a full day practical training workshop run by ACT Sport and Rec. in Canberra on Saturday 28 November (at no cost to her or him). If you are interested, ACTRA Secretary Ian Booth would like to hear from you ASAP so that registration for attaendance at the workshop can be confirmed. Please contact Ian on 62480133 or ianbooth@grapevine.com.au
The spring rogaine at Orroral Valley was a great success, despite a bit of rain dampening the finish of the 6 hour event. Results and photos on the website.
A big thanks to the tireless Jean Douglass and Ron Simpson for their sterling efforts with the course setting and organisation. Pia Asa helped on the day, catering by Hartley Lifecare and controls collected by the Sutton family, Doug Collier, Peter Thomas, Colleen and Colin Mock.

The committee met recently to discuss pre-event organization, and list of roles is being compiled for a call for helpers in early December. Apart from course-setting/vetting, these tasks will still allow you to enter the event. Event operations will be defined following this with a further call for help in the new year.
